I Went to the Fair!

When I turned 25 last November, I promised myself that I would do more things just because they made me happy. I am a huge crafter, and besides the few projects I decide to share on my TikTok and craft-centered Instagram account, I feel like I don't get to share my creations as often as I would like to, which brought me to this: decided to submit some of my crafts in the Cuyahoga County Fair!

I submitted four pieces to the fair: a crochet bedspread, a needlepoint ornament, a knit scarf, and a plastic canvas tissue box. I am so excited and proud to say that all four of my pieces placed, which you can see in the TikTok below! I was kind of nervous to see how everything turned out, as I had no idea how everything would be judged. I feel so honored that they felt my work was worthy of being awarded; there's something about being recognized that feels incredibly special.

I am not one for resolutions or huge goals, but I did set one goal for myself in my 25th year, and that was to do things for me and to do them because they are fun. Submitting crafts that I love to the fair definitely falls into that category. Prioritizing myself and my own fun pushed me into doing new and different things for myself this year and has strengthened old friendships, revived ones that have lapsed, and invited new people into my life; I have loved that outcome so much. I thought that my goal was a bit of a selfish one, but in doing things for me and prioritizing the things that bring me joy, it has brought a really positive energy into my life.

But enough deep thoughts - I feel so proud of how my pieces performed and cannot wait to submit more next year. If you have any county fair experience, let me know, because I would love to hear your take on everything!
